THE FINALISTS OF THE EU PRIZE FOR CONTAMPORERY ARCHITECTURE ''MIES VAN DE ROCHE''

The European Commission supports prizes for culture in the fields of architecture, cultural heritage, literature and popular music. These prizes are an excellent opportunity to give visibility to European talent in these sectors and to communicate with the wide public what the EU is doing in the field of arts and culture. They show a young and dynamic face of the EU, close to the citizens.
The EU Prize for contemporary architecture/ Mies van der Rohe Award is awarded every other year to outstanding examples of architectural works in Europe.
Here are the 6 finalists for the Prize announced today by the European Commission together with the Mies van der Rohe Foundation from Barcelona, Spain.
  • Neues Museum (Berlin, Germany)- David Chipperfield Architects / David Chipperfield
  • Bronks Youth Theatre (Brussels, Belgium)- MDMA Martine De Maeseneer Architecten / Martine De Maeseneer, Dirk Van den Brande
  • MAXXI: Museum of XXI Century Arts (Rome, Italy)- Zaha Hadid Architects / Zaha Hadid, Patrick Schumacher, Gianluca Racana
  • Concert House Danish Radio (Copenhagen, Denmark)- Ateliers Jean Nouvel / Jean Nouvel
  • Acropolis Museum (Athens, Greece)- Bernard Tschumi Architects / Bernard Tschumi
  • Rehabilitation Centre Groot Klimmendaal (Arnhem, The Netherlands)- Architectenbureau Koen van Velsen / Koen van Velsen
Selected by a prestigious international jury from 343 nominations from across Europe, the 6 finalists are some of the world's most visionary architects. The award ceremony will take place on 20 June in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
