''Greece is the word for new migrants'' The Sydney Mornig Herald

''Anthelia Tzanis was six when her parents, who had emigrated to Australia in the 1960s migration boom, moved back to Greece 40 years ago. Other than a month-long holiday in her birthplace in her 20s, her life was anchored firmly in Greece, where she became one of the first women to enter the Greek Naval Academy. There she married fellow officer John Michanetzis and had two children.
In 2012, with Greece reeling from the economic crisis and harsh austerity measures, Tzanis and her family found themselves joining a new wave of Greeks heading to Australia.
The company Michanetzis had been working for since retiring from the navy had closed down and job prospects and the future looked grim.
"It was an educated decision to come here, to give our kids opportunities," says Tzanis. "For us it would have been easier to stay in Greece, but for our kids it was going to be difficult to get a good education and find jobs."
